4 tips to eliminate ants and say goodbye to ant harassment from now on!

Many people’s kitchens often attract ants. They often appear next to food, which makes people feel very uncomfortable! So what can we do to make ants disappear? The editor of Life Tips Network has some tips here. Follow the steps below to try.

Step 1: Observation

1. First, observe the ants and try to find out where they crawled into your kitchen. It may be the gaps in the windows, cracks in the walls, or the front door.

2. Pay attention to the tracks of the ants. As long as you don’t interfere with them, you will find that they always follow the same route. If you want to get rid of ants, remember to clean the track they must take!

3. Follow the tracks of these ants and find their ant nests. They may be in the yard or on the sidewalk outside, but most of them may be difficult for you to find. It doesn’t matter. As long as you find them, take some orange peels and a cup of warm water, put them in a juicer, smash them, and pour them into the ant nest.

Step 2: Cleaning

1. Wash all pots and pans thoroughly. If there are other dirty dishes outside the kitchen, wash them too, otherwise the ant problem will extend from the kitchen to the whole house; put all sweet things in the refrigerator, and make sure your kitchen is clean.

2. Clean the kitchen once a day. All food residues may attract ants, so before we set up ant traps, we must clean the kitchen thoroughly; put white vinegar in a spray can and wipe your sink, cabinets and floors with white vinegar regularly to remove ant tracks and make the kitchen cleaner.

Step 3: Elimination

1. Prepare borax or boric acid bait. Add a tablespoon of powdered sugar and a tablespoon of borax (or boric acid) to a bowl, and then add an appropriate amount of water to make syrup. (Borax and boric acid can be purchased at pharmacies or chemical stores. Because they are toxic, they should be placed out of reach of pets and children to avoid danger.)

2. Take a piece of paper or board, pour the syrup on it, and then put the bait in the place where ants will appear. In this way, the ants will eat the syrup and move the syrup back to the ant nest. Other ants will also eat the syrup, so you can kill a lot of ants!

3. You can make several more containers with ant baits and place them in various places where ants will appear. Remember to make sure that children or pets at home do not touch or eat these baits. Although it is not too harmful to adults, it is very toxic to children and pets. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly immediately after making them.

4. If you see ant tracks in the yard or on the sidewalk, you can sprinkle some borax in these places, but you should sprinkle it again after every rain; if there are children or pets passing by those outdoor places where ants pass, please remember to replace borax (or boric acid) with talcum powder or cinnamon powder, and do not use borax (or boric acid) again to avoid danger!

Step 4, Prevention
1. If you need to leave food outside for a while, you can stick a circle of tape on the edge of the bowl or plate (sticky side facing outward), so that the ants will be stuck and cannot move forward!
2. When dining outdoors, if you are afraid that ants will climb onto the table, you can take a few plastic bowls filled with water and then put the table legs in the bowls, so that the ants cannot climb over the bowl of water to the table.
3. You can plant mint around the house, which can also prevent ants from entering the house. It should be noted that mint is very easy to grow, so be careful that they spread rapidly in your flowerbed!
Little knowledge:

Boric acid

Generally, boric acid is not very toxic. The lethal dose for adults is about 15-20 grams, while for children it is 3-6 grams. Absorbing a large amount at one time may lead to acute poisoning. Early symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, rash, and the central nervous system is first excited and then inhibited. In severe cases, circulatory failure or shock may occur. Repeated consumption of small doses may cause accumulation, leading to chronic poisoning, anorexia, fatigue, mental confusion, dermatitis, alopecia, and menstrual disorders.
