Step 1 rinse

Wash wooden spoons, wooden spatulas and other utensils with warm water every time you use them. It is not recommended to soak them with clear water, because it may cause bacteria to breed and lead to cracks in wooden utensils in the future. When cleaning these wooden utensils, it is recommended to use neutral dishwashing detergent, with hands, dishwashing sponge or other cleaning tools that will not hurt wooden spoons and spatulas, and then clean them. It is not recommended to wash wooden utensils in the dishwasher, because the function of quick drying may damage the surfaces of these utensils. After cleaning the wooden utensils, it is recommended to dry them with a clean towel before putting them away, instead of letting them air dry naturally.

2. Remove stains and odors

Small baking soda powder and lemon juice can not only help wooden spoons, spatulas and other utensils to eliminate odor, but also remove dirt that is difficult to clean. First, pour about 1 teaspoon of small baking soda powder on the surface of wooden utensils of general size, and the amount of small baking soda powder will increase or decrease with the size of the utensils. The larger the size of the utensils, the more small baking soda powder will be added. The smaller the utensils, the less baking soda powder will be added. Then, squeeze the lemon juice onto the small baking soda powder. Directly stir baking soda powder with water into a paste, then apply it on the wooden utensils, and then gently rub the surface of the utensils with your fingers or clean cloth to let baking soda powder and lemon juice seep in. If possible, the rubbing direction should be consistent with the grain of the wood, and finally rinse the wooden utensils with clean water. If the dirt is not completely removed, you can repeat the above steps until all the utensils are clean. If the dirt is too stubborn, you can also add a little coarse salt to the baking soda powder.

3. Sodium percarbonate

In addition to using baking soda powder and lemon juice, you can also use sodium percarbonate as a detergent to clean these wooden utensils. Just put 1 tablespoon of sodium percarbonate into about 1 liter of water (or follow the instructions on the product packaging), then put the wooden utensils into the water, then scrub them with your hands, sponge or cloth, and let them soak in the water for a few minutes. In addition to cleaning, it also has the effect of sterilization. Finally, rinse the wooden utensils with warm water before using them.

3. vinegar

If the smell of wooden utensils is a little heavy, you can also use vinegar to clean them. The effect of vinegar to remove the smell will be better. Just mix hot water with white vinegar at a ratio of 1: 1, then soak the wooden utensils in vinegar water for about 30 minutes, and finally rinse the utensils with hot water and dry them.

4. Maintenance

If the surfaces of wooden spatulas, spoons and other utensils are found to be rough, you can grind them with sandpaper and oil them. Just use kitchen paper towels or clean towels to coat a thin layer of mineral oil or vegetable oil on the surfaces of wooden utensils, and then leave them for 20 minutes, then clean them with clean kitchen paper towels or towels. If you oil wooden utensils regularly, it will help to extend the service life!
